Precast/Prestressed Girder Help

Prestress Losses Tab

You can modify the prestress losses by clicking the Prestress Losses tab to display the appropriate screen.

There are primarily two methods you can use to calculate the prestress losses: Computed (IRC) or Manual.

The Manual Method allows you to specify the loss percentage at release and at final (as percentage of total initial jacking force). The IRC Method follows IS:1343-1980, clause 18.5.2. The two input parameters are:
  1. Age of Loading: used for computing the creep co-efficient.
  2. Strain Shrinkage: the approximate value of shrinkage strain for design as per clause 5.2.4.1.
